Your Amazon Prime Membership Just Got A Lot Better
With the most recent updates to Prime members' perks, shopping for groceries is easier than ever before.
The main benefit of investing in an annual Amazon Prime membership is that you get free two-day shipping on thousands of products featured on the site at any given time. (Of course, the Prime membership also gives you unlimited streaming on Prime Video, access to Prime Pantry, Prime Music, and more.) Now, the perks of the $99 membership are even more desirable for those who have yet to hop on the Amazon bandwagon. Amazon will now offer free same-day shipping andone-day shipping on over 10,000 items, including Whole Foods products, for Prime members, giving you every reason to shop for everyday pantry and kitchen staples without leaving the comfort of your bed.
Even better, you can now purchase select Whole Foods 365 brand products, meat, and alcohol with ultra-fast shipping using Prime Now, a 2-hour delivery service offered to Prime members.* All qualifying items totaling a minimum purchase of $35 or more will qualify for same-day shipping or one-day shipping if the service is available in your area. Typically, when you place an order before noon for same-day shipping, you can expect its arrival in the later afternoon. After the noon cutoff, shipping will roll into one-day shipping status, and you will receive your package the next day.
The online retail giant is also stepping into the takeout food delivery service, rivaling existing delivery favorites such as GrubHub, UberEats, and Seamless. Like this existing services, Amazon Restaurants allows you to order food from local restaurants and have it delivered to your doorstep. When you make a purchase of $40 or more, shipping will be free; otherwise, delivery starts at $2.99. However the service is currently only available in 25 select cities.
*Note: This is not to be confused with the Amazon Fresh program, in which you have more fresh produce and food product options available to be delivered to your home. Amazon Fresh is an upgraded extension of your existing Prime account with an additional $14.99 monthly upcharge. However, the Amazon Fresh program has also updated its inventory to include more Whole Foods items and meal kit delivery options.
