Take a look at the all black 2018 Pirelli Calendar, styled by Edward Enninful
Pirelli has just revealed their 2018 calendar and it’s a massive celebration of black beauty.
Each month’s been snapped by legendary photographer Tim Walker and styled by Vogue’s editor-in-chief Edward Enninful.
The theme?
Alice in Wonderland.
‘Alice has been told so many times,’ Tim Walker says.
‘And I think I wanted to go back to the genesis of the imagination behind Lewis Carroll so that you could tell it from the very beginning again. I wanted to find a different and original angle.’
To do that, he’s recruited 18 of the world’s biggest melanin models, actors, musicians and activists.
We’ve got Adwoa Aboah as Tweedledee, Whoopi Goldberg as The Royal Duchess and Ru Paul as Queen of Hearts.
Duckie Thot is Alice, Slick Woods is The Madhatter and Naomi Campbell and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs are the Royal Beheaders.
‘To see a black Alice today means children of all races can embrace the idea of diversity from a very young age and also acknowledge that beauty comes in all colours, says Edward Enninful.
‘Culturally we are living in a diverse world. Projects like this remarkable Pirelli Calendar demonstrate that there is still hope in what sometimes feels like an increasingly cynical reality.’
