Chelsea were handed a huge boost in their hopes of progressing beyond the Champions League group stages after Atletico Madrid were held to a 0-0 draw against FC Qarabag.

The Blues currently sit top of Group C having already beaten the Azerbaijani side and Diego Simeone’s men in Madrid but the La Liga giants had a chance to move to within two points of Chelsea.
However, a shock draw for Qarabag saw them earn the first Champions League point of any side in the history of Azerbaijan’s football and keep last year’s semi-finalists under huge pressure to go through.

A win for Antonio Conte’s side against Roma at Stamford Bridge will see them move five points clear of the Serie A side and a huge seven points away from Atletico, all but securing their place in the last-16.
It could have all been so different, though, with Fernando Torres missing an absolute sitter with minutes remaining.
The former Chelsea and Liverpool striker headed miles over the bar from just four yards out in dramatic fashion to miss Atletico’s best opportunity to secure an important win.
Some may claim it could have been a penalty, but perhaps it was just secret agent Torres on the case…!
