Bayern Munich will consider making a move for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud after Robert Lewandowski complained he is being worked too hard, according to SportBild.

The Poland international has been in sensational form again this season and has scored 20 goals in 21 appearances for club and country.

At 29, however, the former Borussia Dortmund striker believes Bayern should consider adding to their squad in order to guard against the possibility of him picking up an injury.

‘It would definitely be an option to sign a hungry, young striker who wants to learn from an experienced player,’ he told SportBild.

‘It would be a relief for me to play 15 or 20 minutes less in a game, then you have more energy for the next games and a higher probability of staying fit and minimising the risk of injury.

‘Of course, the club hierarchy will decide which striker is worth considering, but clearly we aren’t talking about a top international striker.

‘Strikers of this calibre want to be on the pitch themselves during the season’s decisive games.’

According to the same publication, Arsenal’s out of favour forward Olivier Giroud and Ajax’s young star Kasper Dolberg are the two forwards under consideration.

Giroud has been relegated to second choice at Arsenals since the summer signing of Alexandre Lacazette and he has largely been restricted to appearing in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

Dolberg, 20, meanwhile, has also been linked with a move to Arsenal but has endured a difficult season so far, scoring just two goals in 12 appearances in all competitions.
