Long Island MS-13 Members Challenged To Take Out A NYC Cop

The New York Police Department has placed Long Island police officers on high alertfollowing a “credible” tip that MS-13 gang members have been instructed to “take out a cop.” The threat came out of Hempstead, a Long Island neighborhood where MS-13 has a hefty presence.
According to the New York Post, gang members told an informant that police officers in the area were getting too proactive, and that a “statement” was necessary. The suspect then allegedly told the informant, “The police have been making too many arrests and its time to take the streets back and take out (shoot) a cop like we do in El Salvador.”
Police in Nassau County, N.Y., have arrested nearly 150 in connection with MS-13 in the past few months. Police also successfully captured Miguel Angel Corea Diaz, 35, the alleged East Coast leader of the MS-13. Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas described the man better known as “Reaper,” who was extradited from Maryland on Wednesday and arraigned in Long Island.
“This defendant, known as Reaper, allegedly ordered murders and trafficked large amounts of poisonous heroin up and down the eastern seaboard,” Singas said. “What started as a narcotics investigation with the Drug Enforcement Administration quickly expanded in scope and geography to include murder and violence committed by alleged MS-13 members throughout the United States and El Salvador.”
The suspect the informant described to police was a light-skinned Hispanic man with three dots tattooed next to his eye, but he noted that it was clear that the order to kill police officers was an open order and could be carried out by any gang member. The tattoo he described is also relatively common among MS-13 members, and has a number of possible meanings.
Some sources claim that it means “mi vida loca” (“my crazy life”), while others say that the three dots represent the three ways gang life can end: jail, hospital or grave.
