LaMelo Ball Was Reportedly Not Liked By His Lithuanian Teammates
LaMelo Ball was not well liked by his pro teammates in Lithuania, according to some recent comments from Jeff Goodman on ESPN.
LaMelo and his brother, LiAngelo, recently returned from Lithuania, and their stay apparently didnt go outstanding. Goodman said the following on ESPN, transcribed by BroBible:
For LiAngelo, actually, it was a pretty good experience, he averaged about 12.5 points in Lithuanian league action. He played better than a lot of people thought he would going over there. For LaMelo, it wasnt very good. He barely played in the Lithuanian League games. One former teammate described him to me earlier today as “lazy” and “arrogant.” Wasnt really engaged in the whole process. Played undisciplined, which weve seen in AAU ball. But didnt really get better, and thats the goal over there for a 16-year-old is to improve and get better. And multiple people I talked to on that team, on Vytautas, said LaMelo really never bought in.
Does this really come as a surprise to anybody? Im glad to hear that LiAngelo was out there balling. Good for him. He has to be better right now, though. LaMelo has time because hes younger, but not being liked by his teammates is not a great sign of things to come.
Im so curious to see where the Ball brothers end up. LiAngelo is almost certainly headed to the G-League, but what about LaMelo? Would a high-flying European team take a chance on the young kid on a two year contract to run out the clock before he can take a shot at the NBA? I have no idea.
There will certainly be mid-level and low-level teams that would sign him in a heartbeat for the attention. Theres not a ton of money to be made at that level, but there would be more playing time available. The saga of LaMelo Ball just never stops being entertaining.
