It looks like Michael Jordan may have a new show coming to Netflix, but its not another Space Jam.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Netflix and ESPN Films are working together to bring a brand new series that will premiere on both Netflix and ESPN. And Michael Jordan will be fully involved in the process.
The series will likely be called “The Last Dance,” and is to be directed by “Andre The Giant” director Jason Hehir. It will launch in 2019 and is expected to be a 10-part series so far.
It will chronicle Jordans rise to fame with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s, as well as delve into the NBAs rise to popularity in American culture in the same era.
“Directed by Jason Hehir (The Fab Five, The 85 Bears, Andre the Giant) and produced by Mike Tollin, the series will employ more than 500 previously unseen hours of footage from the Bulls last championship run in 1997-98, with Jordan, other Bulls figures and dozens of sports luminaries signed on for commentary,” The Hollywood Reporter explains.
With three unstoppable forces like MJ, Netflix, and ESPN teaming up to make a series like this, you can bet its going to be worth watching.
