Monaco playmaker Thomas Lemar has sent Arsenal fans wild by ‘liking’ an Instagram post claiming he’s set to sign for the Gunners.

The Frenchman was keen on a move to the Premier League last summer and Monaco accepted an £80million offer from Arsenal but the move collapsed after Manchester City failed to settle on a fee for Alexis Sanchez.

Chelsea have since entered the race for Lemar and are said to be willing to offer out-of-favour forward Michy Batshuayi as a makeweight in any deal for the France international.

However, Lemar has teased Gooners by liking a post on Instagram claiming he’s set to move to Arsenal.

The post, which is titled ‘Welcome to Arsenal’ displays a photo of Lemar and the Frenchman clearly enjoyed what he saw.

Chelsea believe they are leading the race for Lemar because of their relationship with former technical director Michael Emenalo and the fact they can offer players in exchange.

However, Lemar was happy to join Arsenal last summer and if the Gunners match their offer again in January he could end up at the Emirates.

And it’s fair to say Arsenal fans couldn’t hide their excitement at Lemar’s social media activity…
